Manchester United are attempting to woo a central midfielder to Old Trafford as they aim to win the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.

However, Jose Mourinho has so far been thwarted in his bid to land a player capable of getting the best out of Paul Pogba.

Chelsea and Tottenham midfielders Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier are on his radar, but both teams are reluctant to sell to a direct rival.

Manchester United have also been linked with moves for Monaco’s Fabinho and Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, yet the duo look increasingly likely to stay with their current clubs.

Reports over the weekend claimed United were locked in talks with PSG over a move for Verratti.

Mino Raiola could help Manchester United sign PSG star Marco Verratti

Though the Italy international has made a move to Barcelona his No1 priority, he is seemingly open to offers in case a move to the Nou Camp falls through. 

And journalist Delaney has claimed Verratti is keen to negotiate a move away from the Parc des Princes - and agent Mino Raiola could convince him to make the move to Old Trafford. 

“If you want the situation forced, which Verratti clearly does, Raiola is very good at this,” Delaney told The Second Captains podcast.

“Verratti really does want to leave Paris. He wants to go to Barcelona – but he would be interested in a move elsewhere.
